NORDINGRÅ ARTIST’S WORKSHOP

Nordingrå Art Village has a close collaboration with Nordingrå Artist’s Workshop. Here you’ll find facilities and equipment for graphics, book printing, bookbinding, tufting, projects, and exhibitions. Nordingrå Artist’s Workshop is a non-profit association where you can work as a member.

JÄRNSTABORG

Järnstaborg is a collective studio and a hub for several active blacksmiths, artists, and creators. The forge is owned by Andreas Lundin, master blacksmith.

ARTDOT

Artdot is a small business dedicated to putting Art on the map and is part of Nordingrå Art Village. They engage in a variety of activities within the cultural sector, with a focus on experiences – both digitally and on-site.

Artdot also operates Cowork in Vännersta, organizes events around culture, and acted as site managers in Nordingrå for the SVT production “Vägen ut med Lars Lerin” during the year.

“Feel free to get in touch regarding projects and collaborations – we are passionate about ideas that together can promote Art!”

MIKAEL ARVIDSSON

I am an artist in Nordingrå. The art I have for display and sale in the shop primarily consists of enamel and graphics. Emaljerna är av mindre format, av utrymmesskäl och den grafik jag har där ligger i grafikvaggan att bläddra i, serigrafier och träsnitt.

My relationship with Nordingrå has been and continues to be inspiring for my art! Dalsberget, which I see every day, is a fantastic environment to be in, and what views! I am currently working with these views in my art.

OWE EGON GRANDICS

I refer to myself as a metal sculptor and bird painter. At the moment, at least. It was a long journey before I found my way home to Nordingrå. Many mornings I woke up in European capitals, working my way through various roles, from goldsmith to theater technician.

The birds have been with me all along. From the tame crow that lived in the kitchen of my childhood home to the sea eagle that circled the lighthouse during my years as a lighthouse keeper out on Högbonden. There’s something about their gazes. When a bird looks you in the eyes, it’s as if time stands still, as if they know so much more than we realize. Perhaps it has to do with their perspective. The bird’s-eye view.. I use the term “Vögelkünst” for my paintings, but I’m not really a bird illustrator. More of a character catcher.

SIRPA HUUSKO

My name is Sirpa Huusko, and I live in Salsåker where I, among other things. weave rag rugs. After weaving a rug on my late mother-in-law’s old loom 20-25 years ago, I felt that I had found a way to create that suited me. I am drawn to creating something new from recycled materials. Weaving with strips from old, soft, worn-out sheets and duvet covers is a joy. The material I use is old, things I have received or bought at flea markets. I have dyed some sheets, but most still have their original color, transformed after many washes. No rug is the same as another; it all depends on the materials I have.

I look at the rags I have, feel which color speaks to me, and then I start weaving. Sometimes I start with the plan for the rug to have a certain color, but in the end, it can turn out completely different. It feels like they create themselves. The rugs vary in size depending on how many rags I have. They are woven with unbleached and black cotton warp and cotton fabrics. Living in Nordingrå and the High Coast is fantastic because here you have everything for body and mind; you can hike in the mountains and forests, swim in lakes and the sea, and enjoy art. What more could one ask for?

ANNIKKA KRONLID ARVIDSSON

Painters and printmakers who use written words in my art. The artistic process is like a formulation as it progresses. A process that is exactly that, in constant motion. Sometimes it’s something I just have to long for. Mäland, Nordingrå became my place on earth. A constant source of wonder, happiness, and inspiration.

KARIN EFRAIM GÄRDEGÅRD

I am an artist/illustrator and writer. I illustrate for books, magazines, my own exhibitions, and have also done public decorations. In addition, I also hold workshops in Pictorial Narration. I have released two books for young/adults and three picture books for children. All books share the common theme of exploring the night and the inner space of humans. My pictures are often colorful but with a dark depth. In summary, one could call the artistic expression “darkness in color”.

KATINKA NORDGAARD

I am a ceramicist and sculptor who uses a firing method originating from an old Japanese technique – raku. It’s a method that involves many steps, opening up for new impressions. I hand-build my objects in earthenware clay. A lump of clay shaped in my hand becomes something unique but also carries a feeling from my hand.

ANNA ARVIDSSON

I make jewelry in polymer clay. I am originally a baker and pastry chef and for a few years managed the Art Village Café (then Järnsta Café), but now I work with other things and have clay as my creative outlet instead. I enjoy the process from clay piece to jewelry – getting to play and express creativity. I also like the color, which enhances one’s mood or gives a feeling for the day. I offer courses in jewelry making in polymer clay.
